Tigers Lose Again, 7-3, to Orioles
|
Baltimore left-hander Steve Avery pitched his team to victory over the Detroit Tigers at Memorial Stadium. The final score was 7-3. Julian Tavarez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 18 save opportunities. Detroit, at 47-114, has lost 6 straight.
The Orioles got a big at-bat from right fielder Troy O'Leary. For the game, O'Leary was 1-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Baltimore a 4-3 lead.
O'Leary told a Baltimore Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
