Reds Score Late, Stun Royals, 5-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds took Kansas City pitcher Rheal Cormier's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Riverfront Stadium. The final score had Cincinnati getting past the Royals, 5-3. Cormier went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 6. Cincinnati, at 3-1, has sizzled in the early going.
Matt Lawton was the walk-off hero for Cincinnati. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Reds pinch hitter hit a dramatic 2-run home run to send the teams home.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Cincinnati manager Eric Deutsch.
