Yankees Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox put on quite a show at Fenway Park.
The Boston Red Sox got a superb performance from pitcher Tim Worrell, but the New York Yankees still won the game, 6-5. Worrell was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. New York reliever Bryan Eversgerd picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Mark Thompson was saddled with the loss. Mark Leiter notched his 1st save in 1 chances.
Darren Lewis made it 3-2, New York, in the top of the 12th when he reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run. It was a big at-bat in the Yankees win.
"It was terrific getting this win," Lewis said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
The last-place Yankees raised their record to 58-104.
