Senators Get Win, Extend Streak to 6
Washington starter Jim Neidlinger put a stranglehold on the Baltimore offense. The right-hander had complete command of his fastball in leading the Senators to a 6-1 win. Neidlinger got the win, improving to 2-7. He allowed 10 hits and walked 2 over 7.1 innings. Neidlinger allowed 1 earned run. Todd Jones was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 9 save opportunities.

The Washington win was a team effort. It included major contributions from, among others, Craig Shipley. In the bottom of the fourth, the Washington left fielder came to bat and hit a 2-run single. It staked his team to a 2-0 lead.

"I like how we're playing right now," said Neidlinger.

The first-place Senators now have a 6-game winning streak.
