Reds Hold Off Cardinals, 6-5
|
St. Louis first baseman Ivan Calderon had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Calderon went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, even as Cincinnati beat the Cardinals, 6-5. Calderon was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win takes Cincinnati to 18-14.
Also making an impact was right fielder Bernie Williams, who drilled a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning for the Reds. For the game, Williams was 1-4.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Williams.
