Rangers Edge Pirates, 7-6
The inspired effort of Pittsburgh first baseman Bobby Bonilla was not enough to prevent a 7-6 loss to the Texas Rangers. Bonilla was 3-5 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Mark Clear nailed down his 1st save. The Rangers raised their record to 16-16.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Wade Boggs came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Pittsburgh pitcher Guy Hoffman, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Texas on top, 7-6.

"It was offense that won us the game," said winning manager Sean Norman.
