Rangers Hold Off Spiders, 6-5
Texas Rangers starter Angel Miranda pitched effectively against the Cleveland Spiders at Arlington Stadium. The left-hander spearheaded his team's 6-5 win. Miranda got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. Miranda allowed 5 earned runs. With the win, Texas goes to 2-2.

Mike Lansing had a big 2-run single for the Rangers in the bottom of the first inning. With Texas leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Willie Banks and stroked the single to left. It was his 4th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rangers ahead, 3-0.

"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Miranda.
