White Sox Lose to Red Sox, 9-6
|
It was a fun time at Fenway Park, where the Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox tangled.
The Boston Red Sox powered past the Chicago White Sox, 9-6, at Fenway Park. Lee Stevens went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4, to lead the charge. John Smiley was the winning pitcher. Over 7.2 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.
Barry Bonds, who led the FL in runs with 131 in 1990, contributed to the Boston win with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the left fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Stevens.
The White Sox, now 9-24, continue their slow start.
