Reds Get Road Win, 8-6
|
Kansas City left fielder Ray Lankford had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Lankford was 1-2 with 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs, even as Cincinnati beat the Royals, 8-6. Lankford was named the player of the game despite the loss. Cincinnati starter Joey Hamilton was credited with the win after throwing 117 pitches over 7.2 innings. His record now stands at 5-2. With the loss, Kansas City is 20-12.
Dave Nilsson put Cincinnati in front, 6-0, when he took Denny Neagle downtown. His 2-run home run came with one out in the top of the fourth. It was his 2nd home run of the season.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Nilsson told the Cincinnati News.
