Cubs Solve Sun Rays, 5-3
|
The Chicago Cubs racked up a win at Wrigley Field, bumping off the Orlando Sun Rays, 5-3. Eric King, who started for Chicago, pitched effectively for his team. Chicago reliever Tim Burke was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Jose DeLeon took the loss. The Sun Rays fall to 13-19 and continue their lackluster start in 1995.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from left fielder Luis Gonzalez. For the game, Gonzalez went 1 for 4. In the bottom of the seventh, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 42nd hit of the season gave Chicago a 3-2 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," King said after the game.
