The Boston Red Sox grabbed a 7-4 win over the Minnesota Twins at Metrodome. Boston third baseman Akira Eto was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs to earn player of the game honors. The Red Sox, now 16-17, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.

Boston took a 5-4 lead on Lee Stevens's 9th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Stevens hit in the top of the eighth, left Minnesota pitcher Trevor Hoffman visibly frustrated.

"Akira is still learning," said Red Sox manager Brett Williams. "The sky's the limit for him."
