Extra-Inning Win by Reds over White Sox
|
The Chicago White Sox got a superb performance from designated hitter Mo Vaughn. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Cincinnati. The Reds won the game, 8-5. In spite of the loss, Vaughn was named the player of the game. He went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI. The Reds, now 19-14, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
It could have been a different outcome for Cincinnati, had it not been for Matt Stairs, the 27-year old left fielder . Stairs contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the tenth inning to put Cincinnati up, 6-5.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Chicago manager Dustin Hafler.
