Creams Edge Marlins, 4-3
|
Milwaukee Creams starter Kelly Downs was in fine form against the Florida Marlins at Milwaukee County Stadium, leading his team to a 4-3 win. Downs, now 4-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. The Creams have an impressive 21-12 record.
In the bottom of the fifth, Milwaukee third baseman Chipper Jones had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 3rd and two out, Jones stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 4-1, Milwaukee. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
Downs pitched well, despite being a bit under the weather. "To be honest, I was sick before the game," he said. "Just a stomach bug."
