Giants Score Late, Upend Marlins, 5-4
|
Florida right fielder Bo Jackson was sensational. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. San Francisco beat the Marlins, 5-4. Jackson was named the player of the game despite the loss. Mike Harkey, the winner, improved to 5-1. He held the Marlins to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 2. San Francisco has now won 3 in a row.
Moises Alou, who finished 4th in the UL in extra base hits with 71 in 1992, chipped in for San Francisco with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 2 singles, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"We did enough to win," said Alou.
