St. Louis Hot Streak Continues with 8-3 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals grabbed a 8-3 win over the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. St. Louis designated hitter Ivan Calderon went 2-4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 to earn player of the game honors. St. Louis starter Scott Erickson was credited with the win after throwing 108 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. The Red Sox, now 9-25, have lost 5 in a row.
In the top of the fifth, Calderon had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run single off Willie E Adams that staked the Cardinals to a 5-3 lead.
"I believe in our guys," said St. Louis skipper Adam Rabel. "I like the energy they're playing with."
