Rijo Now 1-0 After Subduing Rangers
|
In a low-scoring game between the Cincinnati Reds and the Texas Rangers, pitcher Jose Rijo was masterful on the mound. The Cincinnati right-hander was named the player of the game in Cincinnati's 2-0 win. Todd Worrell closed the game out for Cincinnati, earning his 1st save. The Reds, now 2-1, have been on a roll in the early going.
Rijo, who dominated for Cincinnati, earned the victory to move to 1-0. He was in control the whole game, scattering 1 hit over 7.1 innings, while striking out 9. Texas batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Cincinnati manager Eric Deutsch.
