Twins Waste Great Game from Thomas
Minnesota first baseman Frank Thomas had a good game, even if his team did not. The Twins dropped a 4-3 decision to Boston at Metrodome. Thomas went 3-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Boston starter Roger Salkeld was credited with the win after throwing 130 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Boston goes to 17-18, Minnesota to 20-15.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when catcher Hector Villanueva drew a walk. The Red Sox went on to win.

"We did enough to win," said Villanueva.
