Cardinals Snatch 3-2 Win
|
St. Louis Cardinals starter Bill C. Swift was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the New York Yankees, 3-2. The Cardinals bumped their record to 22-14 with this latest triumph.
Dickie Thon drove in one run for St. Louis. The 36-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Shawn Estes. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Swift told the St. Louis Gazette. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
