Cardinals Johnson Stops Sun Rays
|
Joe Johnson of the St. Louis Cardinals spun his magic on the Orlando Sun Rays today. He blanked them 8-0 on 4 hits, registering 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Johnson said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, St. Louis skipper Adam Rabel said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"Joe pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
On the season Johnson has compiled a 3-3 mark with a 4.28 ERA in 8 starts. In pitching 54.2 innings he has 25 strikeouts and 16 walks while limiting the opposition to a .290 batting average.
