Victory Over Creams Takes Florida to 22-13
|
Florida Marlins starter Wilson Alvarez turned in a top-notch performance against the Milwaukee Creams at Milwaukee County Stadium. The result was a win for the Marlins, 5-2. In 6.1 innings, Alvarez surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Billy Wagner earned the save, his 1st, for the Marlins.
Contributing to the Florida win was Luis Castillo. In the top of the second, the 21-year old second baseman had a run-scoring walk. That made the score 2-0, the Marlins in front.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Castillo. "And not try to do too much."
Florida is now 22-13, 3½ games up in the Federal League East Division.
