Marlins Win at Milwaukee, 3-2
|
The Florida Marlins eked out a 3-2 win versus the Milwaukee Creams at Milwaukee County Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Al Leiter, who captured player of the game honors. In 7 innings, Leiter surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Bryan Harvey finished to wrap up his 1st save.
Edgardo Alfonzo made an early impact for Florida when he stroked his 2nd hit of the season. The 2-run single, which came with two out in the top of the second, put the Marlins on top, 3-0.
"I felt we were ready to go," said Florida manager Stephen Ginter. "Our pregame was pretty good."
With the loss, Milwaukee falls to 2-3.
