Cubs Fall to Nomo and Twins, 1-0
|
In a low-scoring clash between Minnesota and Chicago, pitcher Hideo Nomo was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Minnesota in the 1-0 win. The Twins, now 21-15, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Nomo, who dominated for Minnesota, earned the victory to move to 1-2. He was in control the whole game, scattering 2 hits over 8.2 innings, while striking out 8. Chicago batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"Enjoyed this one," Nomo told the Minnesota Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
