Orioles Bang Out 8-5 Win Versus Toronto
|
The Baltimore Orioles topped the Toronto Blue Jays by the score of 8-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to second baseman Bill Spiers. Spiers was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Orioles on the day. Picking up the save was Roger McDowell, his 4th. Even with the win, the Orioles have a dismal 11-24 record.
Baltimore used the timely hitting of Kenny Lofton to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Orioles on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Baltimore manager Daniel Ward.
