Giants Take Tight Tilt, 4-3
San Francisco beat Colorado at Candlestick Park, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Floyd Youmans, who earned player of the game honors. The Giants improved to a lofty 27-8.

Had Carlos Baerga not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Baerga hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Giants.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Youmans. "But I like how we're playing right now."
