Both teams had their chances, but the Cleveland Spiders eventually prevailed at Orlando Citrus Bowl.

Orlando third baseman Ken Caminiti had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Caminiti hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice, even as Cleveland beat the Sun Rays, 8-7. Caminiti was named the player of the game despite the loss. Bret Saberhagen went 8 innings for Cleveland to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 earned runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. His record improves to 1-4. Earning his 9th save of the year was Sterling Hitchcock.

Cleveland relied on the hitting of Kevin Mitchell to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Spiders on top, 8-2. For the game, Mitchell had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"It feels good to get this one," Mitchell told the Cleveland Daily.

Cleveland is now 13-23, Orlando 14-22.
