Cincinnati starter Mike Mussina had a strong outing against the Boston Red Sox at Riverfront Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 8-6 win. Boston is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 7 in a row.

Javy Lopez played a key role in the win for the Reds. The catcher punched a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning. For the game, Lopez was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Mussina told the Cincinnati News. "It's as simple as that."
