Barberie goes 3-for-4 to Power Reds Offense
Benefiting from Bret Barberie's productive game, the Cincinnati Reds downed the New York Yankees, 9-5. Barberie went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Reds. Joey Hamilton was the winner. Over 9 innings, he allowed 5 runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 8 strikeouts. The Reds raised their record to 20-17.

Barberie had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a full count fastball from Jim Abbott, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Reds a 6-5 lead. It was the 4th home run of the year for Barberie.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Barberie.
