Royals Turn Back Twins, 3-2
|
Minnesota right fielder Larry Walker had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 3-2, to Kansas City at Metrodome. Walker was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Armando Benitez earned the save, his 7th. The Royals bumped their record to 23-13 with this latest triumph.
Kansas City relied on the bat of Jim Thome to get the win. The first baseman produced a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Royals ahead, 2-1. For the game, Thome had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"Against this team here, fangs out late in the game, it's nice to beat them," said Kansas City skipper Daniel Drucker.
