The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Riverfront Stadium, knocking off the New York Yankees, 4-2. Starting pitcher Jose Rijo was an essential part of his team's success. In 8 innings, Rijo surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Todd Worrell picked up the save for Cincinnati, his 8th of the year.
Damion Easley had a big hit for Cincinnati in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cincinnati leading 2-1, Easley hit a run-scoring triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Reds up, 3-1.
Easley attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
