Sun Rays Come Back Late to Top Pirates
|
The Orlando Sun Rays racked up a win at Three Rivers Stadium, bumping off the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-3. Kevin Appier, who started for Orlando, pitched effectively for his team. Orlando is now 20-17.
Orlando relied on the hitting of Mike Bordick to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the eighth inning to put the Sun Rays on top, 6-3. For the game, Bordick had 1 triple and 1 single in 3 at-bats.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Appier told the Orlando Bulletin.
