Oakland beat Arizona at Bank One Ballpark, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Jamie Moyer, who earned player of the game honors. The Athletics improved to 14-24.

Oakland used the bat of Geronimo Pena to get the win. The second baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

Moyer called the win "a collective effort."
