Giants Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Rockies
|
The Giants grabbed a win, 5-4, at Candlestick Park, overcoming a fine effort from Colorado pitcher Orel Hershiser. Hershiser went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Jim Poole picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Mike Timlin was tagged with the loss. San Francisco has an impressive 28-9 record.
Jay Bell, who is a two-time Gold Glove winner, aided the San Francisco cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first. For the game, the shortstop drew 2 walks in 4 trips to the plate.
"We found a way to get it done," Bell said.
