Expos Win at New York, 3-2
|
The Montreal Expos got a good effort from starter Chris Nabholz in defeating the New York Mets at Shea Stadium. The final score was 3-2. Nabholz got the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Nabholz allowed 2 earned runs. The Expos have an impressive 28-11 record.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Expos had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the first, when left fielder Raul Mondesi hit a 2-run home run. The home run came off Manny Aybar and made the score 2-0, Expos. Mondesi went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Nabholz told the Montreal Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
