Blue Jays Stymie Washington, Take 3-1 Win
Toronto beat Washington on the strength of starter Zane Smith's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. The current losing streak for Washington has reached 4 games.

It could have been a different outcome for Toronto, had it not been for Carlos Delgado, the 22-year old first baseman . Delgado contributed a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put Toronto up, 3-0.

"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Blue Jays manager Jose Mata, "I like our chances."
