Los Angeles played host to Oakland at the friendly confines of Dodger Stadium.
Los Angeles right-hander Ramiro Mendoza made an effective start against the Oakland Athletics at Dodger Stadium, leading his team to a 6-2 win. After today's action, Los Angeles sits at 19-20, while Oakland falls to 14-25.
Torii Hunter had a big bases-clearing double for the Dodgers in the bottom of the eighth inning. With Los Angeles leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Ramon A. Garcia and stroked the double to right. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dodgers ahead, 6-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Los Angeles manager Dave Ginter.
