Blue Jays Edge Orioles, 1-0
|
The Blue Jays had to overcome a fine effort from Baltimore pitcher David Wells to grab a narrow 1-0 win at SkyDome. Wells went 7 innings and allowed no earned runs. Toronto reliever German Jimenez picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Jeff Nelson shouldered the loss. This win makes it 6 in a row for Toronto.
Coming to the plate with one out in the bottom of the tenth inning, Toronto center fielder Darrin Jackson had a chance to be the hero. Facing Baltimore pitcher Jeff Nelson with a runner on 3rd, Jackson hit a walk-off run-scoring single.
"We didn't score," said losing manager Daniel Ward. "That was the problem."
