Pirates Deal Braves Painful Loss
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates finished things off in style today at Three Rivers Stadium.
Atlanta third baseman Kevin Mitchell had a good game, even if his team did not. The Braves dropped a 5-4 decision to Pittsburgh at Three Rivers Stadium. Mitchell was 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was Bryan Harvey's in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Roberto Hernandez took the loss for Atlanta.
Bobby Bonilla was the walk-off hero for Pittsburgh. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pirates designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"This place was rockin'," Bonilla said.
The 5th-place Pirates now have a win-loss record of 21-20.
