Marlins Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Devil Rays
|
Despite a great performance by Orlando third baseman Jose Valentin, the Florida Marlins defeated the Devil Rays by the score of 7-6 at Joe Robbie Stadium. Valentin was 2-4 with a double, while adding 4 RBI. The win was credited to Bryan Harvey in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Shawn Estes took the loss. Florida is now 26-15, 5 games up in the Federal League East Division.
Florida grabbed a 7-6 lead in the bottom of the ninth when Richie Sexson hit a 3-run home run. For the day, Sexson was 1-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Sexson said.
