The Cincinnati Reds defeated the New York Yankees, 5-2, in Federal League action at Yankee Stadium, with Cincinnati pitcher Kevin Foster named player of the game. Getting the save was Doug Henry, his 5th. The Reds, now 20-20, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.

Bernie Williams, who is a two-time All-Star, came through for Cincinnati with a run-scoring double in the top of the third. The right fielder went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 runs batted in.
