Blue Jays Throttle Senators, 5-1
|
Spirited fans at RFK Stadium greeted the Washington Senators for their clash with the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Washington Senators, 5-1, in United League action at RFK Stadium. The player of the game was Toronto pitcher and San Antonio, Texas native Danny Jackson. Jackson, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 5.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 1 walk. Antonio Osuna locked down his 7th save.
Will Clark had a nice at-bat for the Blue Jays with two out in the top of the fourth. With runners on 1st and 3rd, the designated hitter hit a run-scoring double, which would prove important in the Toronto win.
"The vibe's good," said Toronto manager Jose Mata. "We've got to keep it going."
Washington now has a 6-game losing streak.
