Multi-HR Day for Gonzalez as Rockies Overpower Diamondbacks, 8-2

Spirited fans at Bank One Ballpark greeted the Arizona Diamondbacks for their clash with the Colorado Rockies.
The Colorado Rockies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks, 8-2, in United League action at Bank One Ballpark. Juan Gonzalez received player of the game honors. The 9-year veteran was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Curt Schilling, credited with the win, is now 7-1. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 6.1 innings. Mike Timlin earned the save for Colorado, his 1st of the year.
Colorado took a 8-2 lead on Todd Pratt's 1st home run of the season. The grand slam home run came off Arizona pitcher Pedro Martinez in the top of the ninth.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Gonzalez said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Colorado leads the United League West Division by 2 games.
