Spirited fans at Shea Stadium greeted the New York Mets for their clash with the San Diego Padres.

San Diego rode a good effort from starter Ismael Valdez to beat the New York Mets at Shea Stadium. The final score was 9-2. The winning pitcher was Valdez, now 3-6. He tossed 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5.
