Oakland Athletics starter Todd Stottlemyre was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Detroit Tigers, 5-0. Stottlemyre went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-3. Oakland is 16-26 and Detroit, with the loss, 15-27.

Oakland used the bat of David Justice to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Stottlemyre told a Oakland Today reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
