Mets Throttle Padres, 6-1
|
New York right-hander Manny Aybar made an effective start against the San Diego Padres at Shea Stadium, leading his team to a 6-1 win. Mike Sirotka picked up the save for New York, his 2nd of the year. The Mets, now 24-20, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.
Magglio Ordonez, who is rated as the 18th best prospect by BNN, aided the New York cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder drove in one run.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Aybar.
