Guerrero hits 8th home run, Senators Move to 27-16
|
The Washington Senators beat the Los Angeles Dodgers, 12-4, at RFK Stadium. The Senators got a fine performance from right fielder Vladimir Guerrero, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The win puts the Senators at 27-16, while the Dodgers drop to 21-22.
With Washington leading 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth, Guerrero hit a changeup from Ugueth Urbina for a grand slam home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Senators ahead, 7-2.
Guerrero said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
