Diamondbacks Come Back Late to Clip Expos

The Montreal Expos got a superb performance from pitcher Chris Nabholz. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Arizona. The Diamondbacks won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Nabholz was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Arizona reliever Chuck Ricci was the winner. His record is now 1-1. The losing pitcher was Mike Jeffcoat. Arizona now has a 3-game win streak.
The Diamondbacks got a lift from designated hitter Bobby M Estalella, who in the bottom of the ninth stroked a 0-2 slider into center for a run-scoring single. It was his 30th hit of the season and put the Diamondbacks ahead, 5-4.
"This place was jumping at the end," Estalella said.
