Yankees Come Up Short at St. Louis
|
Benefiting from Jay Bell's productive game, the St. Louis Cardinals downed the New York Yankees, 6-5. Bell was 2-5 with a double, while scoring 2 times for the Cardinals. St. Louis reliever Bryce Florie picked up the win, bumping his record to 3-1. Andy Ashby was collared with the loss. With the win, St. Louis has a record of 24-20. New York falls to 14-30.
An important at-bat for St. Louis came with one out in the bottom of the sixth. With a runner on 3rd, Bell hit a run-scoring single, which contributed to the Cardinals win.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said St. Louis manager Adam Rabel.
