Royals Beat Visiting Spiders, 5-2
Kansas City starter Mark Guthrie pitched effectively against the Cleveland Spiders at Royals Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Earning his 1st save of the year was Mike Stanton. The Royals, now 28-16, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.

Kansas City center fielder Ray Lankford helped the Royals go up, 3-2, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Lankford hit a run-scoring single off Cleveland pitcher Ron Robinson.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Guthrie said.
