Dominant Performance by Benes in Orlando Win
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Orlando Sun Rays got the win.
Orlando right-hander Andy Benes made an effective start against the Kansas City Royals at Royals Stadium, leading his team to a 3-2 win. Rod Beck, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Benes tossed 107 pitches over 8 innings to clinch the win for the Sun Rays. The right-hander allowed just 4 hits, while racking up 10 strikeouts in the game.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Benes said.
The Sun Rays bumped their record to 23-21 with this latest triumph.
