6 Straight Wins for Expos
|
The Montreal Expos defeated the San Diego Padres, 7-3, in United League action at Jack Murphy Stadium, with Montreal pitcher Pat Hentgen named player of the game. Montreal leads the United League East Division by 9½ games.
The result might have been different for Montreal, had it not been for Mike Sweeney. The catcher produced a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Expos ahead, 2-0. For the game, Sweeney had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Hentgen.
