Bonilla slugs 2 home runs, Marlins Move to 29-17
|
The Florida Marlins topped the Minnesota Twins by the score of 6-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to designated hitter Bobby Bonilla. Bonilla hit 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Marlins on the day. Florida reliever Paul Byrd picked up the win, upping his record to 3-0. Trevor Hoffman shouldered the loss. Bryan Harvey earned the save for Florida, his 14th of the year.
Bonilla had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 3-1 fastball from Trevor Hoffman, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Marlins a 6-5 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Bonilla.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Florida manager Stephen Ginter.
Florida now has a 3-game win streak.
