Athletics Fall to Castillo and Mets, 3-1
|
In a well-pitched game between the New York Mets and the Oakland Athletics, pitcher Frank Castillo was superb. The New York right-hander was named the player of the game in New York's 3-1 win. Takehiro Ishii nailed down his 5th save. With the victory, the Mets record now stands at 25-21.
Castillo was effective against the Athletics, seldom allowing a hard-hit ball. The right-hander limited Oakland to just 1 run on 2 hits over 8 innings.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Castillo.
