Dodgers Turn Back Senators, 5-3
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Washington Senators, 5-3, in United League action at RFK Stadium, with Los Angeles pitcher Bret Saberhagen named player of the game. Saberhagen, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Scott Radinsky earned his 1st save in 2 tries.
With two out in the top of the sixth, Mickey Tettleton stroked a go-ahead 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put Los Angeles in front, 5-3.
"We did a lot of things right," said Tettleton.
The loss drops Washington to 1-4.
