Red Sox Take Nail-Biter Over Royals
|
Boston second baseman Wade Boggs made his presence felt in the 6-4 Red Sox triumph over the Kansas City Royals. Boggs was 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Julio Valera got credit for the win, improving to 3-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 0.2 innings. The losing streak for Kansas City has now reached 4 games.
Boston took a 6-4 lead on Lee Stevens's 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Kansas City pitcher Mike Stanton in the bottom of the 12th.
"It was terrific getting this win," Boggs said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
