Rangers Win in Extras
|
The Rangers faced a stiff challenge from Orlando pitcher Andy Benes, but persevered to claim a win at Orlando Citrus Bowl. The final score was 5-4. Benes went 7.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Picking up the save was Billy Taylor, his 1st. Texas, at 23-23, sits in 4th place in the Federal League Central Division.
It could have been a different outcome for Texas, had it not been for Jorge Posada, the 23-year old catcher . Posada contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the 12th inning to put Texas up, 5-4.
"This game tested our mettle," said Posada.
