Detroit rode a good effort from starter Vaughn Eshelman to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. The final score was 1-0. Rigo Beltran earned save number 7. Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 16-30 record.

It could have been a different outcome for Detroit, had it not been for Shane Halter, the 27-year old shortstop . Halter contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning to put Detroit up, 1-0.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Halter told reporters after the game.
